"Focus on the Task at Hand"
Well, another year has come and gone, and now we look into that wide-open field before us called 2020!
What does it hold in store for us? What is God calling us to do as individuals and as a congregation? It really is not possible to know or anticipate what lies before us. We can plan ahead, and it helps to do so, but we know full well that life does have a habit of throwing us curve balls. But whatever the future has to offer we must trust that God is with us. As Jesus once said, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.” Indeed, we do have enough on our plate today without getting worked up about the future. He also said, “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness”.
In other words, our focus should be upon the task at hand, bearing witness to God’s love in all that we say and do. Life is an adventure, and it would be rather boring if we knew with certainty what lies ahead. Instead, we move ahead, letting it all unfold, trusting that we are not alone, and are given the strength and courage to face every challenge!
